The Holy Place Of Murdeshwar is believed to have been sanctified by a piece of the Pranalinga of Gokarna’s Mahableshwara thrown by the demon Ravana. Murudeshwar temple and fort are also the most visited spots, captivating one with their rustic charm and beauty. The temple here has been renovated and has some beautiful carvings and statues. With the roaring sea to the west, the towering hills to the east, the temple attracts a lot of devotees and tourists all through the year. Murudeshwar temple is home to the second tallest statue of Lord Shiva (123 ft) in the world and is well known for its beautiful sculptures and intricate designs.

Gokarna is famous for its beaches. The scenic beauty of the beaches encapsulated by the lush greenery on one side and the Western Ghats on the other. Every year thousands of tourists visit Gokarna for pilgrim as well as to soak themselves on these beaches. The Om Beach of Gokarna carries a spiritual significance concerning its geographical appearance. The shape of this beach resembles the symbol ‘Om’ and hence, it is considered to be highly auspicious amongst the locals.
